GWO Certified BTT Bolt Tightening Module BTT Bolt Tightening Module GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT) The GWO Certified BTT Bolt Tightening Module is designed to prepare participants for further company-specific technical training in the wind industry by developing the essential knowledge and practical skills required to safely perform basic bolt tightening tasks within wind turbine environments. During technical operations inside wind turbines and across wind farms, workers are exposed to various forms of hazardous energy including hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and stored kinetic energy. These hazards can pose serious risks if proper safety procedures are not followed. The GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT) program has therefore been developed to create awareness and provide foundational technical competence for safe working practices in the wind industry. The BTT Bolt Tightening Module focuses specifically on safe and effective bolt torquing and tensioning practices using powered equipment. Through realistic scenario-based training, participants gain practical understanding of industry-standard bolt tightening procedures, tool handling, inspection methods, safety precautions, and correct work practices required during installation and maintenance activities. This training does not qualify participants to independently perform bolt tightening work without supervision. Instead, it provides the fundamental technical knowledge and safety awareness necessary before progressing to company-specific or advanced operational training. The updated GWO BTT structure also allows the Installation Mechanical (BTTI-M) and Installation Electrical (BTTI-E) modules to be delivered either as standalone programs or as a combined training format. The combined delivery is equivalent to Version 10 of the BTT Installation module and is completed over two full training days. Aim of the Training The aim of the GWO BTT Bolt Tightening Module is to prepare participants for company-specific bolt tightening training through practical and scenario-based learning exercises. Learning Outcome After successfully completing the BTT Bolt Tightening Module, participants will be able to: Act independently to safely plan, carry out, and complete generic bolt torquing and tensioning tasks according to specifications using powered equipment. Identify hazards associated with bolt tightening operations in wind turbine environments. Select and inspect appropriate bolt tightening tools and equipment. Apply correct torque and tensioning techniques according to industry standards. Follow safe working procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Understand basic maintenance and inspection requirements for bolting tools and systems. Who Should Attend?
