Description
Overview In the wind energy sector, fire incidents pose serious risks—to personnel, equipment, and operations. Electrical faults, hydraulic leaks, overheating components, and high winds can quickly turn a small issue into a life-threatening emergency, especially in isolated turbine environments. The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Fire Awareness module, delivered by Eduforce, provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills to prevent, detect, and respond to fires in wind turbine settings. This training forms a critical part of the GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) package, enabling safe and standardized operations worldwide. Course Objective The GWO Fire Awareness module aims to enable participants to: Understand the development and spread of fire Recognize fire hazards in wind turbines and related environments Assess fire risks and reduce the chance of ignition Use fire extinguishing equipment safely and effectively Perform fire safety procedures, including emergency evacuation Demonstrate correct behavior in a fire situation through hands-on drills Target Group This course is intended for all personnel working in the wind industry, including both onshore and offshore technicians, who will be required to work in or around wind turbines, as well as those involved in construction, installation, maintenance, and service operations. Course Content 🔥 1. Fire Safety Principles Fire triangle: fuel, oxygen, ignition Fire behavior and spread in closed structures like nacelles Common causes of fire in wind turbines (short circuits, oil leaks, etc.) 🧯 2. Fire Prevention and Risk Reduction Housekeeping and hot work permit practices Identifying ignition sources and flammable materials Maintenance protocols to minimize fire hazards 🚨 3. Firefighting Equipment and Usage Types of fire extinguishers (A, B, C, D, K) Proper selection based on fire class Safe operation of extinguishers (PASS method) Maintenance and inspection of firefighting tools 🏃 4. Fire Emergency Response Procedures Raising the alarm and communication procedures Evacuation drills and escape route planning Assisting injured or unconscious colleagues Use of smoke hoods and fire blankets (if applicable) 👷 5. Practical Fire Extinguishing Exercise Live fire scenarios in a controlled environment Safe extinguishing techniques Behavioral training under simulated emergency pressure Duration Half Day (Approximately 4 hours) Can be scheduled as a standalone module or part of the complete GWO BST training package Assessment & Certification Continuous observation during practicals Oral or written knowledge assessment Upon successful completion, participants receive: ✅ GWO Fire Awareness Certificate ✅ Registration in WINDA (Wind Industry Database) Validity: 2 years, after which refresher training is required Pre-requisites Must be medically fit for practical training Preferably completed GWO modules in Working at Heights, Manual Handling, and First Aid (can be combined in a package) Training Methodology ✅ Classroom Theory – Delivered using GWO-compliant content, visuals, and discussion ✅ Hands-On Firefighting Drills – Live fire simulation with real extinguishing tools ✅ Scenario-Based Learning – Simulating wind turbine fire emergencies ✅ Language Options: English, Hindi, Marathi, and others as per batch requirement Why Choose EDUFORCE for GWO Fire Awareness? 🔷 GWO Certified Training Partner – Approved to deliver all BST and EFA modules 🔷 Modern Training Infrastructure – Simulated turbine environment and certified fire control area 🔷 Experienced Trainers – With real-world safety and fire rescue backgrounds 🔷 Convenient Location – GWO-approved centre in India, with support for corporate batches onsite 🔷 WINDA-Compliant Certification – Certificates uploaded directly to global database Who Should Attend?
